Becoming: My Path as a Therapist and the Creation of The Age of Alchemy

We all carry stories—some told, some buried, some still unfolding. As a therapist, I believe in the healing power of being witnessed in our authenticity, our truth…This is mine.

I didn’t set out to become a therapist in the traditional sense.

My path into psychotherapy was shaped not by textbooks or theory, but by lived experience—by family dynamics marked by generational trauma, cycles of burnout, identity struggles, and a lifelong sensitivity to the world around me. I was the one who felt deeply in a world that often encourages us to feel less. Growing up, I learned how to shrink myself to meet expectations. I became the helper, the fixer, the overachiever—until it all caught up with me.

My childhood and teen years were marked by blended family dynamics, body image issues, and a constant search for belonging. As a Gen X teen navigating the 90s, the prevailing message was simple: “suck it up and deal with it.” Whether I was being teased for my appearance, battling disordered eating, or trying to fit into a world that didn’t make space for sensitivity, I learned to survive. But survival isn’t the same as healing.

Then, in high school, I met a counselor who changed the trajectory of my life. For the first time, I saw what it meant to be truly witnessed. I knew I wanted to offer that same presence to others. I studied psychology, envisioning a future in social work or school counseling, hoping to make a difference.

But the realities of systemic burnout, empathy fatigue, and economic pressure pulled me into the corporate world—accounting, HR, admin—until motherhood cracked me open.

Motherhood as Catalyst: Returning to the Self

Becoming a mother softened and stretched me in ways I hadn’t expected. It brought forward grief I had never fully named, and invited me to revisit old wounds with new eyes. I found myself asking: Who am I, beyond the roles I perform? I began to untangle myself from the expectations I had internalized for so long. The loss of maternal figures in my life deepened this inquiry, awakening a desire to reclaim parts of myself I had buried in order to cope.

It was during this time that I began to understand that my sensitivity wasn’t a weakness—it was a compass. What once felt like “too much” was, in truth, my ability to feel deeply and intuitively. I realized this sensitivity was not just personal—it was ancestral.

And that’s when I began to experience what I now call the alchemy of transformation: pain becoming insight, loss becoming clarity, confusion giving way to self-trust.

Before I Became a Therapist, I Was a Seeker

My journey into becoming a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) was preceded by years of searching—through books, energy healing, rituals, and spiritual traditions—for language that could hold my inner experience. When my paternal grandmother passed in 2008, I felt a deep shift. Her passing reopened a vault of spiritual wisdom passed down through generations—wisdom I had spent years distancing myself from in the name of modernity.

That was the beginning of my return to the sacred.

Along the way, I immersed myself in psychology, somatic therapy, nervous system healing, nutrition, Reiki, aromatherapy, shadow work, and spiritual care. I learned how to mother myself, how to tend to my grief, and how to honor the stories held in my body.

I studied inner child healing, attachment theory, and transpersonal psychology, not just from a clinical lens—but through lived, embodied practice. I explored ancestral healing, ritual, herbalism, and the reclamation of the sacred in everyday life. These tools weren’t just certifications—they were lifelines.

Why I Do This Work

I didn’t become a therapist to fix people. I became a therapist to walk beside others as they remember who they really are.

My work today is rooted in a trauma-informed, spiritually-integrative, and client-centered approach. I believe in blending science and soul, the clinical and the mystical. I hold space for the parts of you that feel too much, too sensitive, or too broken—because I know those parts are often your greatest guides.

Healing is not linear. It’s cyclical, sacred, and deeply human.

If you’re longing for a space to explore your story, your patterns, your grief, your truth—I’m here for that. My role is not to diagnose or direct you, but to walk with you as you reconnect to your inner wisdom, uncover your voice, and reclaim the parts of yourself you’ve had to abandon to survive.

What The Age of Alchemy Means to Me

The Age of Alchemy is more than a name—it’s a philosophy. It reflects my belief that healing is both science and spirit, rooted in evidence-based psychotherapy and nourished by ancestral wisdom, intuition, and creative exploration.

In my practice, I blend traditional talk therapy with integrative approaches like:

  • Somatic awareness to reconnect with the body

  • Humanistic and psychodynamic therapy to explore identity and emotion

  • Mindfulness and values-based reflection for grounding and clarity

  • Creative and symbolic tools rooted in depth psychology and modern personality theories (like journaling, guided imagery, or archetypal exploration) for those who process beyond words

Whether you're navigating burnout, anxiety, grief, or spiritual disconnection, our work together is a space to come home to yourself.

When I named my practice The Age of Alchemy, it felt like a reclamation—of power, purpose, and possibility. Alchemy, to me, is the sacred process of transformation: turning pain into wisdom, fragmentation into wholeness, and survival into self-trust. Creating this space was about more than offering therapy; it was about weaving together everything I believe in—science and spirit, depth and compassion, modern healing and ancestral knowing. It’s a place where all parts of you are welcome, and where transformation doesn’t have to be rushed, but revealed.

My Clients: The Deep Feelers, Seekers & Sensitives

I work with adults who often feel “too much” or “not enough.” They are often women who have lost their sense of self because of caregiving or people pleasing all their lives and are now navigating life transitions. They are the burnt-out mothers, the overworked and underappreciated people who are struggling to keep up and feeling overwhelmed by stress. Many are empaths, caregivers, HSPs, or cycle-breakers—people who’ve spent their lives holding others up while feeling unseen themselves.

Together, we explore:

  • How to set boundaries without guilt

  • How to process shame, grief, and self-doubt

  • How to navigate complex family dynamics and generational patterns

  • How to navigate sacred life transitions in a world that values “doing” over “being”

  • How to rebuild trust in your own voice and intuition

  • How to step into authentic, empowered living and take your power back

Healing isn’t linear, but it is possible. And you don’t have to do it alone.

I know firsthand what it feels like to be that person. I’ve navigated the high expectations of the corporate world, the quiet identity shifts of being a stay-at-home parent, the complex dance of relationships, hormonal life transitions and the deep grief of losing those closest to me. I’ve learned how easily we can lose ourselves while caring for others, and how hard it can be to ask for support. My lived experience is not separate from my work—it’s the foundation of the empathy, presence, and realness I bring to every session.

An Invitation to Begin

Therapy is a brave act of self-remembering. It’s not about perfection—it’s about presence, connection, and reclaiming the parts of you that have been silenced or forgotten.

If you’re feeling called to explore your inner world with support, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you. Whether you’re in a moment of transition, grief, awakening, or simply seeking something more, you’re welcome here.

This is your invitation to begin again.
